Sadaf Amir

Sadaf Aamir was born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan in 1976. A self-taught artist. Sadaf predominantly makes sculptures and large scale installations, with a conceptual approach.

As a child, her favorite place was her father's metal workshop where she liked spending afternoons, cleaning tool bits after a days work. Spinning the wheel on lathe machine her mind would swing in an imaginative direction.

Sadaf's journey started with interior designing that later her curiosity for materials took her towards sculptures, by which she translated her contemporary ideas into three dimensions. Yet her learning passion never ended here, she travelled to Italy to learn the art of glass beads and polymer clay under the wing of David Pinso, a widely famous Murano glass bead maker.

Her work doesn't reference recognizable form. By applying abstraction and emphasizing aesthetics, she creates intense personal moments masterfully created by means of rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted, luring the viewer round and round in circles. Sadaf Aamir currently lives and works in Dubai.
