Board & Management
We are a 'not for profits' organisation with an elected Board drawn from the membership. Our mandate is to make art available to all ages, abilities and nationalities. Our day to day activities are managed by a full time team based at the Centre.
Consists of nine elected art centre members who agree to serve on a voluntary basis for a period of two years. The Board makes sure that the Centre continues to make art instruction, learning and exhibitions available to the widest audience through its courses, its art network and it's Gallery.
Ayesha Chen Mckeevr - Chairperson
Ayesha began her longstanding relationship with the centre in the early days firstly, as a receptionist and then accountant. When a vacancy for administrator opened Ayesha stepped in and finally took over as centre manager in 2007. She was requested by popular vote to take on her latest role as chairperson. She hopes to continue the excellent work accomplished by her predecessors and to further the scope of the centre within the community.
Simon Routledge - Vice-Chairperson
Simon is a Company Director with Davis Langdon, a global construction consultancy. Married with children, Simon has found DIAC to be a fun and instructive place for his family. A member of DIAC since 2005, Simon has been a regular student of Kamen Bonev's oil painting courses and has exhibited at the annual student's and member's exhibitions held in Gallery 76
Jeff Scofield - Gallery Director
Jeff is an American born architect and environmentalist working with an international practice in Dubai. After studying Architecture at Columbia University in New York Jeff studied art at the Beaux Arts in Paris. Jeff also studied Chinese brush painting with oriental masters in Paris and Dubai. Jeff is a regular exhibitor at Gallery 76 and he has recently taken up sculpture at Dubai International Art Center.
Kamen Bonev - Exhibitions Director
Kamen was born in Bulgaria and has a Masters degree in fine art from the Fine Art Academy Velioko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. He has had exhibitions worldwide and is currently teaching fine art in DIAC.
Alem Goshime - Operations Director
Born in Addis Ababa, Alem Goshime studied fine arts in Ethiopia and Greece. Alem teaches art at the Dubai International Art Centre, the Dubai Women's College and in the private sector, but also finds time to take part in charitable activities. He had several group and solo exhibitions of his work in Europe and the UAE.
Diyali Bhalla - Cultural Director
Born in India, Diyali graduated with a degree in science. She then moved on to receive a diploma in fashion design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (FIT) in New York.
For ten years Diyali has been running her own business in high fashion stores across the world. She relocated to Dubai in 2004 and has since then been involved in free lance design work, art events and teaching.
